ABOUT ME

- Design and Fabrication -

Hey! My name is Stephanie Martinez. I was born and raised in East Boston, Massachusetts. I am an art, math, and computer programming enthusiast. I am excited to major in Computer Engineering as a rising college freshman at Northeastern University. My recent projects include computational research, an art portfolio, and design/fabrication. I want to continue developing my skills in both programming and design. Additionally, I want to participate in future projects for social advancement. I have a particular interest in using my skills to improve educational experiences for minority communities.

How can I use design as a tool for social justice? In the summer of 2020, I joined DigitalReady!'s digital fabrication program and learned about the fundamentals of design in architecture, 3-D printing and what it means to be an activist architect.

My project centralized in addressing a social issue within my hometown, East Boston, MA. East Boston was a town known for being sanctuary for immigrants until recent years. I created a monumental design in response to the gentrification that is taking place in East Boston.
